Coniston can be accessed from both the North and the South. In general, you
would leave the M6 at J36. |

From the North (slower) |
| |
Follow the road from the M6 to Kendal, go over the bypass through Windermere until you reach Ambleside.
Follow the A593 to Coniston. You will have taken in views of Lake
Windermere, and the Langdale Pikes. When you arrive in Coniston, continue in
to the village centre. When the Black Bull Inn appears on your right, slow
down. There is a bridge just past the Black bull on your right, do not go
over it. Instead, you will see Barclays bank immediately in front of you.
You want to take the small lane immediately to the left of the bank (between
the church and the Bank). We are at the bottom of this lane. |

From the South (quicker - with some good views as well) |

Again follow the Kendal road, but turn off to Barrow In Furness on the A590.
At Greenodd, head for Coniston. On arrival in the village you will pass the
filling station and come to the bridge. Barclays Bank is on your right and
the Black bull is on your left. Turn immediately right over the bridge and
go down the narrow lane between the bank and the church. We are at the
bottom of this lane. |
